Last year (which you can read more about over on instagram) broke me open and reformed me as a woman who understands in the most intimate and visceral way that I AM WORTHY OF SUPPORT. I don’t have to figure it out all alone. I keep stepping further and further outside of the paradigm that says that (black woman) STRENGTH means carrying the load all by yourself. HELL NAW. I’ve had a year to reflect that this conditioning–that is both internalized, and perpetuated from the institutional level to the most intimate relationships–could have cost me my life. It has cost many others theirs.
With a lot of love and work and community and time and processing that has felt both wondrous and excruciating, I am healing.
I am a Black Woman Artist reclaiming my Time, my Body, my right to THRIVE.
